Many people in Hong Kong use the word “Chinglish”, referring to the Chinese version of English. The two languages are totally different in just about every way possible. As a Native English Teacher (Bachelor of Education, Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate) in a local Chinese school, I am aware of the many problems faced by children and adults attempting to write in their second language. Whilst residing in Hong Kong for the past seven years, I have been asked to proof read, edit and rewrite countless pieces of writing. Therefore, I decided to build my own English editing and proof reading website, and the name Chinglish to English seemed very appropriate. I appreciate just how difficult it is for Chinese people, in particular, and people of other nationalities, to write accurately in English. It is a complex language with many “exceptions”. My aim is to assist with the writing process, giving my clients more time to do what they do best, while providing them with a high quality and reliable service.
